The work of Barbara Stofast is rooted in a deep connection with lake, river, land and forest. This draw to ‘green’ is a heritage by birth and was nurtured by influence. Barbara’s father had an innate passion to be in nature and a love for wildlife; he led his children and grandchildren on trips to experience Ontario’s beauty by trail, by canoe, and by heart. Her grandmother was a spirited gardener of food, flowers, and plants, which by genetics and example fed Barbara’s affinity for things that grow and for the natural world. For Barbara, the legacy of generations expresses itself on canvas in a serenade to nature.
